Pioneering new ways of farm & food
Controlled Environment Agriculture – global food security through new agricultural production systems is one of the central tasks of the future. "Inhouse Farming - Feed & Food Show" is the DLG's new platform for the agricultural and food systems of the future. Closely networked with agricultural practice, it offers technical information, perspectives, innovations and business - from feed to food.
Energy concepts for a sustainable energy supply: In the recent past, a variety of projects have come under pressure because of the sharp increase in energy costs. One of the remaining challenges of controlled environment agriculture is the high costs of energy for light, heat, ventilation and the continuous supply of water and nutrients.
As regards project planning or the conversion of existing concepts, it is therefore crucial to also give thought to the issue of energy supply. Approaches are offered by renewable energies such as photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal energy and wind power on a small scale with a combination of storage technologies or, for instance, small-scale hydrogen generation for use as required.
Manufacturers of system components are present on the market with a variety of efficient technologies for sustainably meeting existing energy requirements.
In addition to inhouse technologies, products for a decentralised energy supply will also be on show in our Spotlight on the topic of vertical farming. From photovoltaic (PV) and energy generation systems powered by hydrogenated vegetable oils (HVO) up to and including small wind turbines and biomass combined heat and power plants (CHPs), energy centres using electrolysis and hydrogen combustion engines are ready and waiting as possible technologies.
